REBUILDING CULTURAL PATHWAYS

The ancestral heritage of the Coast Miwok/Tamal-ko people must be preserved, honored, and shared with future generations.

Through developing a range of powerful cultural programs and workshops, the Alliance is creating opportunities for community members–and particularly for children and youth–to engage closely with Tamal-ko history and culture.

We honor and celebrate Tamal-ko language, ceremonial practice, knowledge of plant science to harvest food and medicine, and more–allowing the next generation to carry our traditional ways into the future

Reconnecting with the Ancestors: The Tule Canoe Journey

Built through the power of community over six months, our tule canoe, the Tamal-liwa, represents not only the community we nurtured, she represents our “relative” to whom we welcomed back to Tamal-liwa on the shores of Felix Cove on October 30th, 2022.

Felix Family Gathering

On September 18, 2021, for the first time in 63 years, the Alliance for Felix Cove hosted a Felix Family & Friends gathering to welcome home family and share gifts of love, stories and prayer to renew our relationship to our ancestors. It was a time to bring home the energies of family and friends with laughter and sharing food, like our family for many years earlier.
