Join Alliance For Felix Cove for our year-end Tule Canoe Launch Celebration!
We invite you to celebrate all your hard work in creating community together in honor of the Felix Family and Tamal-Ko people, histories and legacies. This year we celebrate our 4th year as the Alliance For Felix Cove!
This will be a day to celebrate together, gather in community and honor all the accomplishments of our community together. This is a small celebration, please bring your smiles, laughter, your picnic lunch, water clothes and your stories to share.
We will start the day with some shared words and an honoring blessing for the year, please bring your own picnic lunch and blanket. We are also honored to host a screening of the short animation film TULE and Q&A panel with film director Jocelyn Garcia (Big Valley Pomo). We will end the day with an array of canoe launches to celebrate on the water together!

*All water paddling will require life vests. A4FC will provide life vests for those who wish to paddle the A4FC Tule Canoe. If you bring your own water vessel, please also bring a life vests.
TULE Film Screening: Tule is a poetic 2D animated mixed media short film championing awareness and hope. A young Pomo girl is empowered through poetic reflection on conversations with her Native community about the culturally vital, but now suffering Tule plant at Clear Lake, CA. This film was created at San Jose State University in 2024 as part of the BFA capstone project in the Animation/Illustration program. The core members are Jocelyn Garcia (Director), Rie Peredo(Producer), Rachel Huang (Art Director), Ealaisa Nelken (Viz Dev Lead). Tule film has received 11 awards and nominations and been selected for over 25 film festivals worldwide. Insta:@tule.film
Director Bio: Jocelyn Garcia is a visual development artist and illustrator. She studied at San Jose State University and received her bachelors in Animation/Illustration with a minor in Chicano studies. She loves telling stories through her work. She is most drawn to themes revolving around culture, history and identity since she comes from a multicultural background identifying as Big Valley Pomo and Chicana. She strives to create work with lasting cultural impact and highlight stories of underrepresented communities. Insta:@joceyg_art
